Skern Lodge provides a range of development training programmes, events and activities, suitable for people of all ages and abilities. The business has been established since 1976 and has achieved fantastic results working with a wide variety of companies, organisations, schools and individuals. Groups, families and individuals are all welcome for half-day or full-day sessions or residential weekends and week stays. We are located near to the beautiful fishing village of Appledore, near Bideford in North Devon, surrounded by rural farm land and are situated on one of Britains finest surfing coastlines.
Built on a working 200 acre farm in an attractive country woodland environment overlooking the Bristol Channel and Wales, our purpose built Sporting Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground was opened in 1990. Since then it has become a popular ground for all types of shooters, having developed an excellent variety of simulated sporting targets for everyone, whether they are a complete novice or at National or International level. Tollymore Mountain Centre provides a range of courses which are based on our skills and experience.
In order to make it easier for you to choose a course that suits your needs, we have divided all of our courses into easily understood categories, so whether you want to do a skills course, or leadership qualification, you will be able to find your course easily. Generally, our courses are divided into categories, according to the environment in which the course take place, so introductory courses tend to be in sections such as 'Rambling and Hillwalking' or Canoesport - Flat Water', and more advanced courses tend to be in more challenging environements, such as Moderate and Rough Conditions for Canoesport, or Mountaineering and Climbing for mountain based courses. All of the programmes below have set course dates, however if you are involved in a club or organisation, and have a number of people interested in doing a particular course, contact us and we may be able to arrange a course specific to your needs.

At Outdoor Concepts we understand that every organisation is different. We like to liaise closely with our clients to ensure all our programmes are specifically tailored to your individual needs, whether that be developing leadership skills, encouraging good teamwork or perhaps offering a unique conference opportunity.
We can arrange the best possible accommodation, food, conference facilities and transport to make your time with us enjoyable and memorable.
The setting is perfect. Behind the Centre is the forest of Grizedale, whilst opposite, across the water, lie some of Cumbrias mountainous fells. The highest peak in this area is the Old Man of Coniston at 803m (over 2500ft). The landscape is dominated by mountains, rivers, cliffs and lakes.
The Lake District has not only inspired writers and artists, but also left great impressions on all those visiting Lanehead too.
We are anxious to make maximum use of Lanehead and to continue to extend the services that we offer to schools or groups of people (i.e. scouts and guides, sports clubs, youth groups, adult groups etc.) from the supporting authorities. To this end we are offering some weeks in the Summer holiday period; either for groups to come and have a full Lanehead experience including catering and activities, or for groups to rent the building as a self catering facility with the option to either have activities provided or to do your own thing .
'We went to Adventures Wales for an action packed day of quad biking. We had great fun and the guys were a great laugh. Some of us had been Quad Biking before but many of the lads had never been quading but we all had a great time! The best Quad Biking in South Wales as far as im concerned!" Liam Giles, Cardiff"
